Staring in the early '60s Dr. Montgomery was a developer of aquatics programs at every level from age group to college. He served almost every organization in Texas and coached swimmers and teams to state and national championships. His age group swimmers in the Houston area, Midland and College Station won numerous TAGS and junior national titles and set national age group records. His 1974 and ’75 Midland Junior College teams were runners-up at the national championships. In 2007 he helped establish the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame and served as its executive director until 2023.
