Lakeside Aquatic Club
When the Lakeside Aquatic Club was founded in 1982, all it aimed to be was a summer recreation team (then called the Lewisville Aquatics Club). But recognizing the incredible competitive potential of several of its swimmers, a group of dedicated parents began raising funds and they hired Jack Simon, one of the most influential people in swimming worldwide.
Within four years the Lakeside Aquatic Club had about 150 swimmers and was already competing in Nationals and Junior Nationals. Over the course of the next dozen years, the team more than doubled in size and began to look at expanding to additional facilities. They have now grown to five DFW area pools and more than 1,100 swimmers.
But perhaps the club’s greatest distinction has come very recently. In 2017, USA Swimming awarded Lakeside Aquatic Club as a Gold Medal Club. The accolade is only given to 20 organizations, officially recognizing them as one of the top teams in not only the state, but all of club swimming.
